Another weekend home- and this was the best one to end our streak!
It all started on Friday afternoon with a quick stop at the new Kettleman’s Bagels in College Square in Ottawa. We picked up some sesame seed and poppyseed bagels with hot pepper spread.
As soon as we got home, mom had only the best prepared: horseradish crusted salmon with herbed rice and cauliflower with mom’s famous cheese sauce paired with Kim Crawford’s Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough. The most perfect pairing if I do say so myself!
Saturday we enjoyed a good friend’s wedding with some post ceremony, pre-reception drinks at Tango Nuevo downtown Kingston. I had a pinot noir from Rosehall Run and Hillary (pictured below), as well as my mom and sister enjoyed the white peach sangria.
Sunday was a big day… I ran my first half-marathon ever! The County Marathon stretches from Wellington to downtown Picton (on main street). It was 20 degrees outside and running through the winding forest roads and overlooking the beaches made the run a whole lot easier. Plus, the main thing getting me to the finish line was knowing that we’d get to go to The County Cider Company for wood fired pizzas, cider and more beautiful views. We split the cider house salad, the margherita pizza, and the artichoke and asiago dip all paired with pear ciders. After that, we toured the orchard and bought four different ciders for a Thanksgiving weekend ‘cider tasting’: original, peach, blood orange, and twisted path (made from only county cider company apples from the orchard on site). http://www.countycider.com/
