Besties Reunite

Early November, Hayley and I reunited. Even though she only lives in Toronto, being that far away from your best friend feels like she lives in Siberia.

This weekend was all about the food and wine.

Friday: charcuterie with Concha y Toro Winemaker’s Lot 148 Carmenère (cheeses and meats from local Toronto spots and Wilton, ON), fig and walnut dip from Farm Boy.

Saturday: a good start to the day with gluten-free oatmeal cakes, Greek strawberry yogurt with fresh strawberries and coffee from the Galapagos. Saturday night, we went hard. We started with freshly shucked oysters with Knob Creek bourbon, horseradish and lemon for sauces, paired with Chablis and Prosecco. For the main course, salmon filets with a lavender cream sauce, garlic and almond roasted carrots and oil/salt roasted green beans paired with J.Lohr oaked Chardonnay (our one and only reunion wine).

Sunday: a write-off, because we were too hungover to function.
