The Bier Markt (many locations) is my kind of place. We enjoyed this restaurant/upscale pub before a Habs game in downtown Montreal. They serve over 150 beers from over 30 countries, so of course they provide you with a bier bible that helps you narrow down your choice(s). I’m a huge fan of wheat beer, so naturally I went straight for that section. I wanted to try a wheat beer that I hadn’t yet, so I decided on “Krombacher”- a German wit. As for food, its also wonderful. My boyfriend and grandpa had pork schnitzel and spatzle, my boyfriend’s dad had risotto, and I enjoyed a chicken supreme with mashed potatoes, and vegetables- all very traditional European dishes.
If you’re ever in Montreal, Toronto (several locations), or Ottawa, check this place out.
It may be a chain, but it’s a beautiful thing.
